CloudShell Version Naming

We changed our version naming format to a simplified year-based format. For example, versions 2020.1, 2020.2 and 2021.1. If you have any question or concern regarding our new version naming, please contact our Support team.

Microsoft Products End of Support

The following list includes Microsoft products retiring or reaching the end of support in January 2020.

  • Windows 7
  • Windows servers 2008 and 2008 R2
  • SQL server 2008 and 2008 R2

As a result, the next CloudShell version (2020.1) will not support above mentioned Win and SQL server versions.

We strongly recommend migrating to current Win and SQL server versions prior to upgrading to this release.

For more information, see the Microsoft's Lifecycle Policy here.

Python 2.7 Retirement

As of January 2020, new CloudShell shells and orchestration scripts are developed in Python 3 only.

Existing shells and orchestration scripts, which were developed in Python 2.7 will be migrated to Python 3. Quali Repositories displays both Python 2.7 and Python 3 shells side-by-side.

End of support of Python 2.7 shells was Jan 1st 2021. For customers who have an issue with Python 2.7 shells, we therefore recommend to upgrade to the latest CloudShell release and use Python 3 shells.
